Outline of the association

The Japanese Classical Dance Association Inc. was established in 1950 with the aim of promoting the traditional art of nihon buyo, and contributing to cultural development.

Currently, about 120 schools of nihon buyo are represented among the approximately 6,000 nihon buyo dancers who are members of the association. The association has 24 branch offices in Japan.

We organize three nihon buyo performances each year, in addition to our involvement in numerous other performances and projects bringing together different schools of nihon buyo, such as workshops for children and training programs open to the public.
