Training and teaching sessions for dancers
Training and teaching sessions for the advancement of artistic technique and the education of nihon buyo dancers have been held every year since the association was established. In recent years, they have focused on practical skills with the aim of aiding dancers directly in their artistic activity.
The sessions are held across Japan by branch offices, and are open to the public.
The Hanayagi Juo Prize for rising dancers
The Hanayagi Juo Prize was established in 1971 to commemorate the achievements and celebrate the memory of the late Hanayagi Juo, holder of the title Important Intangible Cultural Property. Its purpose is the preservation of traditional nihon buyo and to encourage its improvement and development. Since 1987, it has been called the “Hanayagi Juo Prize for Prospective Dancers” and is presented to rising dancers who have shown remarkable progress.
